SANDS OF TIMES
Students of grades Nursery and KG at DPS International, Gurgaon, staged their unit of inquiry presentation with tales that celebrated selfless deeds. Aptly named the ‘Sands of Time’ the showcase was a bouquet of stories where victory over fear was symbolized in red colour during the Chinese new year celebrations. Natives of Ghana ‘hooted’ hunger away, paving the way for merriment during ‘Homowo’ under the scorching summer sun. Indian Literateur Munshi Premchand eulogized selfless deeds through his short story ‘Eidgah’ set in the monsoon of celebrations. The universal appeal of Christmas found voice in a classic by Leo Tolstoy, set in the backdrop of the cold and snow in Russia. Ms Vineeta Jerath, editor in chief, Suburb magazine kindly consented to grace the celebrations as chief guest. A ‘story teller’ who keeps the residents of Gurgaon abreast with the happenings in the city, she applauded the confidence of the students. Ms Rima Singh, Head of School, DPS International welcomed esteemed school principals, parents and grandparents with her inaugural address from the opulent school auditorium. She highlighted the difficult skills that each child mastered during preparation and practice, as a run up to the event. Parents and grandparents were deeply grateful for the magical experience that took them back in time. Seeing their wards execute roles with aplomb made the event a ‘happy learning experience’ shared Mr Dua, parent of an early year’s student. The programme ended on a happy note with Ms Kamal Shah, Primary School Principal proposing a vote of thanks.
